Makkah Masjid is one of the oldest and largest mosques in India, located near Charminar in Hyderabad's historic Old City. Commissioned in 1617 by Muhammad Quli Qutb Shah and completed in 1694 by Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb, the mosque showcases magnificent Deccan Islamic architecture. The prayer hall accommodates up to 10,000 worshippers and features 15 ornamental arches with intricate stone carvings and verses from the Holy Quran. The mosque is constructed using massive granite blocks and features beautiful Belgian crystal chandeliers. As an active place of worship, it hosts five daily prayers and Friday congregational prayers. The mosque also houses the tombs of Asaf Jahi rulers and remains a significant cultural and religious landmark in Hyderabad.
